Blog Tour for Relic Defender: Key of Solomon- Guest Post and Giveaway!

Welcome to the blog tour for Relic Defender: Key of Solomon by Cassiel Knight!

Today I have a guest post, review, and giveaway.

First, a little about the book.

Relic Defender:  Key of Solomon, Book 1 by Cassiel Knight
Anthropology PhD candidate Lexi Harrison never bares it all when she belly dances for a strip club crowd. She doesn’t have to—she’s that good. Every performance earns money toward her degree, and restores the sense of power that her painful childhood ripped away. Something is different about tonight. A man whose silver gaze seems to touch her skin beneath her veils. When a rowdy customer crosses the line, he comes to her rescue with the speed of a hawk—complete with wings. Mikos Tyomni has never seen anyone dance the raqs sharqi like Lexi. Trust his tormentor, Archangel Michael, to put him in close contact with the cause of his downfall: a mortal woman. Particularly this mortal woman. The Defender. He has only thirty days to win her trust before Hell’s deadliest demon attempts the mother of all prison breaks. No matter how sexy the messenger is, Lexi’s career plans don’t include some crazy idea that she’s the last line of defense against the forces of evil. Until her university mentor’s murder leaves her holding the key to Hell. And fighting a losing battle against a passion forbidden by Heaven.

Cassiel Knight has written a guest post on her favorite settings!

This is an interesting question in that most of my books settings are in places I’ve never been before. There is one setting that I’d love to write more of and definitely like to read are futuristic settings. Yes, the ones set in space on faraway planets. Some of my favorite movies/shows happened in space – Star Trek (Next Generation), Star Wars and Firefly. Same thing with books. I love to be drawn into fantastic settings that are beyond anything I can dream of. The imagination of the writers who come up with these places is amazing.

While I love Key of Solomon and am having fun writing book 2 (The Death Skull releases in August 2012), my first love is futuristic, or science fiction (as they are known now) romances. Why? In large part, because of the setting.

Exploring new places on Earth is fun and I enjoy writing about Egypt and other exotic locales, I’m happiest when I’m on another planet. Or in a star cruiser dancing among the stars. It feeds something in me I have been unable to define. It could be the love of space was impressed on me from childhood but I don’t think too long on that. I just know that I love stories set in space.

The first book I sold was a futuristic romance called Hit Me With Your Best Shot. It wasn’t set in space but what I enjoyed most about that, besides Sidra, the heroine and her mysterious hero, Gideon, is creating a future world. Set on Earth in the far future, I got to take some of the familiar and twist it. Including playing with human/animal genetic crossings. Not shape-shifters. Actually crosses. Recently, I’ve had the opportunity to revisit this world as I’m re-releasing it with Lyrical Press in February of 2012. Same title, new sexy cover and, with the help of my fantastic editor, fixed some of the flaws. I’m excited about it re-releasing but more than that, I loved revisiting that world so much so that I’m going to write another in the same future setting. I’d forgotten how much I liked to make things up.

You see, that’s the freedom of writing futuristic settings. And maybe that’s why I like to do them so much. With these, I’m only limited by my imagination and common sense (as to how things work). It’s been fun discovering what my imagination can come up with when I let it go. Sometimes, I amaze myself.

How about you, the readers? What are you favorite settings? If you’ve read a futuristic/science fiction setting, what is your favorite?

Thanks so much! I can see you and I like some of the same awesome shows.

Review:

Lexi Harrison has a lot going on in her life. She's trying to get a PhD and make enough money to survive by dancing. She's got it running fairly smoothly until one day a mysterious stranger gets under her skin in a major way while she's performing. After he comes to her rescue, she soon learns a lot about this man. Mikos is a fallen angel, and he's been sent to help Lexi realize her true destiny. Unfortunately Mikos has two major problems- Lexi isn't buying it, and Mikos is majorly attracted to her. That could be a huge issue for a fallen angel trying to get back into heaven. Lexi has her own problems in the form of a destiny she had no clue about. It's up to her to save all of humanity, but Lexi isn't so sure she cares. Now Mikos must convince her to do her part to save the world, all while keeping as distanced from her as possible. It's going to be an adventure of epic proportions, that's for sure.

This book is almost non-stop action. Sometimes I'd have to stop reading just to catch my breath! If you like lots of action then look no further. This book is also very adult and very sexy. You have to know when the main character is doing a belly dance with veils near the beginning of the book that things are going to be steamy. Lexi was a very strong character. She did not let anyone get anything past her. She was even brave enough to sass the Archangel Michael. That's pretty bold. Mikos is a very dashing fallen angel. He has an innate struggle with his attraction for Lexi and his need to get back to heaven. I found this to be rather moving. I really wanted Mikos to be able to get the best of both worlds. There were other fun characters as well, and the story is clearly left open for a sequel in the end. If you enjoy a lot of action, a little peril, and some major romancing, then this may be the book for you.

Book provided for review.

Hi Julie! I think it is. I added the King Solomon legend angle to try to make it stand out. Book 2 will have more fallen angel stuff but really throws in archeology and mythology even more.

LOL, Zoey! It's certainly one way to make money and it worked for Lexi. :)

I am using an eBook. I like this because of its features and its applications. Well, I am bored from its old look. I want to make its look fresh and new. So I am thinking to buy some new eBook skins.

It contains two things I love in books: it is futuristic and it is science fiction! I also love reading books about relics :)
