Prejudice Meets Pride by Rachael Anderson Book Cover

After years of pinching pennies and struggling to get through art school, Emma Makie’s hard work finally pays off with the offer of a dream job. But when tragedy strikes, she has no choice but to make a cross-country move to Colorado Springs to take temporary custody of her two nieces. She has no money, no job prospects, and no idea how to be a mother to two little girls, but she isn’t about to let that stop her. Nor is she about to accept the help of Kevin Grantham, her handsome new neighbor, who seems to think she’s incapable of doing anything on her own.

Fun, compelling, and romantic, Prejudice Meets Pride is the story of a guy who thinks he has it all figured out and a girl who isn't afraid to show him that he doesn't. It’s about learning what it means to trust, figuring out how to give and to take, and realizing that not everyone gets to pick the person they fall in love with. Sometimes, love picks them.

Author Rachael Anderson

A USA Today bestselling author, Rachael Anderson is the mother of four and is pretty good at breaking up fights, or at least sending guilty parties to their rooms. She can't sing, doesn't dance, and despises tragedies. But she recently figured out how yeast works and can now make homemade bread, which she is really good at eating.

Review:

Emma has worked hard in her life to get places. She worked her way through school and gave up a perfect position teaching art to help out her brother. This requires taking her nieces and starting anew in her great-aunts house in Colorado Springs. Emma is determined to make things as good as possible for her nieces, and she wants to do it all on her own. This includes turning down help from her very persistent (and handsome) new neighbor Kevin. Kevin meanwhile is caught up in his own world. He really only helps his new neighbor in hopes to improve things for the neighborhood. The house and its occupants are in disarray. If Kevin and Emma can work past their issues, they may be able to be an unstoppable team.

This is the perfect relaxing read. It's almost summer as of my reading, and this would be a great one to sit out in the sun and enjoy. I read it super fast and mostly in one sitting, so that makes for prime beach read material for me. I enjoyed the story. Emma was a bit aggravating in her constant refusing of help, but later she explained it so it made slightly more sense. I did just want to roll my eyes and tell her to get over it though. Ha! That didn't take away from my enjoyment though. I did feel Kevin was excessively patient with Emma, so he got points for that.

If you are looking for a clean, fluffy romance, this one will be just want you want to read. There are a few obstacles, but they are never too long or drawn-out, so you get to enjoy the fluff some more. I did enjoy the emphasis on family and what we will do for them. that is something a lot of people can relate to. I will be on the look out for more from Rachael Anderson. This book will make you feel happy!
